The Beginning of a Blog

I've always loved stories.  My parents read me picture books over and over, and I was enthralled every time. In kindergarten, I basically taught myself to read, and I haven't really stopped since.  Libraries are my habitat, and bookstores are an intriguing wonderland full of dangers to my disposable income.  I read stories and watch stories and even write my own stories.

My first love as a toddler was Bugs Bunny, which gave me a love of trickster heroes, clever comedy, and quotable material.  My inner life in elementary school was defined by the Little House on the Prairie series (and by Arthur and Animaniacs).  I discovered Jane Austen my senior year of high school, which lead me to a love of other British authors, such as G.K. Chesterton and P.G. Wodehouse.  I grew to love '60s spy shows and classic sitcoms.  My love of fairy tales led me to fantasy.  Doctor Who led me to love science fiction and fantasy of all kinds (and many, many BBC shows), and I am thrilled by the current wave of superhero movies and television.

If I love something, I want to talk about it.  Hence, this blog.  I plan to review books, movies and television shows I consume.  I'll probably post about writing.  I'll probably review a lot of things that aren't necessarily new or current, but that I love enough to talk about at length.  I'll likely do some reviews of classic books.  I definitely plan to review some fairy tale retellings, as that genre forms my favorite sort of comfort read, and I'll likely throw in television reviews.  I'll be figuring it out as I go.

It's going to be an adventure.
